A lot of people normally wouldn’t explain a building as being especially "special," (unless you built it!) however; there is one really specific building in the cosmopolitan town of
Guadalajara , Mexico that is definitely worthy of the name.

Upon entering the Cabaas Cultural Institute you will find this being correct because of the rich heritage of the building as well as because the Institute is home to several of the most intriguing Mexican murals by the brilliant and late muralist Jose Clemente Orozco.

The structure was named after its founder and even economic backer Bishop Juan Ruiz de Cabaas.

Something so very endearing concerning this great treasure in Guadalajara is that it was originally intended to make a home for orphans, the bad, handicapped and also the elderly.

To no surprise, it grew into a World Heritage site in 1997 and may be described by many as being "simply breathtaking!"

The Cabaas Cultural Institute is affectionately known by many of the elders found in Guadalajara by its previous name of Hospicio Cabaas (Cabaas Orphanage). In case you ask many of them, one or 2 may fondly recall passing by to see children that are little playing happily.

The building of the particular structure started out in the early 1800’s beneath the supervision of architect Manuel Tulsa as well as its doors have been opened in 1810 with the first orphans while still below construction. Sad to say, the construction had to stop temporarily as a result of the War for Mexican Independence (1810 1821) and wasn’t finished until around 1845.

In 1937 Jose Clemente Orozco (Jalisco native) was invited by way of the authorities to try to paint the chapel belonging to the Institute that he later completed in 1939.

The Cabaas Cultural Institute is now utilized as a cultural promotion center and offers classes along with tours of the awe inspiring big scale murals by Orozco such as the world of his popular mural Man of Fire (Hombre de Fuego).
