    About the Author

    PhD Robert H. Friis completed a postdoctoral fellowship in social epidemiology at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. In epidemiology, he has taught and conducted research for more than three decades. Formerly, he was Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University School of Public Health, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Community Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Assistant Professor of Health Science at Brooklyn College. Afterwards, he became Director of the Field Epidemiology Unit at the Orange County Public Health Department (California). In later years, he joined the faculty of the University of California, Irvine’s departments of medicine, neurology, and social ecology. As Professor and Chair of the Health Science Department at California State University, Long Beach, he has taught introductory epidemiology and biostatistics. His publications include more than 50 professional and scientific articles, and he has conducted numerous epidemiologic research studies. A member of the American Public Health Association’s epidemiology section and the Society for Epidemiologic Research, he conducts epidemiological research. The University of California, Irvine has also appointed him as Clinical Professor of Community and Environmental Medicine. Video Jug features the author as the expert in epidemiology.

    He earned his doctorate in epidemiology from Tulane University and has postdoctoral training in genetic epidemiology. University of California at Davis, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Community Nutrition.
